Motzstraßenfest 2026: When the Fetish World Joins the Celebration

The weekend before Christopher Street Day, Berlin's Rainbow District turns into a sea of color once again: on 18 and 19 July 2026, the Lesbian and Gay City Festival takes place for the 32nd time – known in Berlin by its popular nickname, Motzstraßenfest. Around Nollendorfplatz in Berlin-Schöneberg, Motzstraße, Eisenacher Straße, Fuggerstraße and Kalckreuthstraße turn into six stages and six themed worlds spread across more than 20,000 square meters. The event is organized by Regenbogenfonds der Schwulen Wirte e.V., which promotes it as Europe's largest queer street festival, with well over half a million visitors according to the organizer. This year's motto: Equal Rights for Unequals – Worldwide!

Right in the middle of it all: the Fetish World, which gives the festival a kinky edge and has long since become more than

just a footnote in the program.

The Fetish World: Leather, Rubber, Latex, Bondage, Puppy Play

Anyone expecting only club booths and political talks at the Motzstraßenfest doesn't yet know the Fetish World. The organizer describes it on its official website as one of six themed worlds where visitors can discover a diversity of the senses. Clubs and vendors present themselves there around leather, rubber, latex, bondage and puppy play – explicitly open to newcomers as well as experienced scene veterans. It's understood as a place for exchange, information and inspiration around lived fetish culture.

The organizer doesn't reveal exactly where the Fetish World sits along the four festival streets in a separate map of the themed worlds; general orientation is provided by the overall festival site map and on-site signage.

BOXER Stage F: The Meeting Point for Fetish Lovers

Alongside the exhibition area, the Fetish World also has its own stage, BOXER Stage F, which the organizer itself describes as: “The meeting point for fetish lovers and everyone who celebrates that with confidence.” Both days kick off at 11 a.m.

On Saturday, the program includes, among other things: at 4 p.m. a beginner-friendly introduction to rope bondage and Old Guard basics with a focus on safety and consent, at 5 p.m. a Fetish Social with BLF, where the reigning Mr Fetish Berlin 2026 is welcomed on stage, and at 6:45 p.m. a runway show featuring the new BOXER Fetish Collection. DJ sets keep the mood going in between and afterward, before the stage program ends at 11 p.m.

Sunday starts more quietly and turns kinky again from 6 p.m. with the Animal Playground, a play area for puppies, animals and gearheads. A performance by PP Maus follows at 6:30 p.m., before DJ sets take over until the stage program ends at 9 p.m.

A look back shows how much the program changes from year to year: in 2025, the first year of the BOXER stage, the lineup included a fetish contest, a fashion show, a puppy dance show and a bondage demonstration, according to a report by Der Tagesspiegel.

The Other Five Themed Worlds

Besides the Fetish World, there are five other themed worlds: the Film World, presented by Förderverein Teddy e.V., which awards the Teddy Award, the most important prize for queer filmmaking, held as part of the Berlinale; the Politics World with democratic parties and their queer working groups; the health and wellness world Die Positiven, focused on HIV prevention and care, including Berliner Aids-Hilfe e.V. and its Café Ulrichs; the Sports World with queer sports clubs and fan clubs to join in; and the Flinta World, which gives women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people their own stage and visibility.

Musically, the official program features KISS FM (Stage B), FLINTA* (Stage C), Sunshine Live (Stage D) and Die Queeren Medien (Stage E). On the Stadtfestbühne A, the traditional political talk show Das wilde Sofa, hosted by festival co-founder Gerhard Hoffmann, runs on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; in 2026, guests include women's rights activist, lawyer and imam Seyran Ateş, before a stage program ranging from rock to pop takes over.

Getting There and Safety

Nollendorfplatz is centrally located and easy to reach by U-Bahn; driving is hardly worth it because of the road closures on both days. Since the festival grounds stretch across several streets, it's worth allowing some extra time to walk between stages.

For emergencies, the organizer offers a Stadtfest SOS hotline during the event, through which visitors can request help directly. In cases of acute danger or medical emergencies, the general emergency numbers 112 (fire department/ambulance) and 110 (police) also apply. For discrimination or assaults in the Rainbow District, the gay anti-violence project MANEO is another point of contact: the Schwules Überfalltelefon (gay assault hotline) can be reached daily from 5 to 7 p.m. at 030-216 33 36.
